Yellow Sunshine Art Space – Festival Lead Up!
Well hello there, today we have another grand artist bio from the Yellow Sunshine Art Space batch
We would like you to meet Essig!
Roger Anthony Essig
“I’m a based in Melbourne and have been taking my artworks to festivals, rock concerts and psy-trance parties for the past decade in South Australia, Victoria and once in Los Angeles, California.
My art is very psychedelic and bright, high contrast, with a high degree of detail.
Lately I have found a way to get participation from anyone feeling that creative urge. They are free and welcome to come up and help me work on the artwork live at the event.
People will introduce their own unique style to their section they claim, and I treat that as a seed and continue their style into the surrounding sections. I love to work on artworks at events
and recently completed a 5 year project of a work that has over 4000 nails and a matrix of string connecting them. You are welcome to visit my website to view more of my works.”

Misprint is a freelance designer from Melbourne with a love for organic illustration and ornamentation.
“I have travelled the world for some time, becoming more and more inspired by the amount of beautiful art different countries have to offer. My love for nature and the intricate features in organic forms is evident in the depth and detail of my work. Most of my artwork uses a combination of hand drawn motifs, painting, photography and digital large scale printing on canvas.
Please take the time to look at some of my work, and feel free to contact me for any freelance opportunities or questions you may have!”

STEPH… YEAH?
“Born Stephan Brosnan in St Kilda, Melbourne, music featured heavily in Steph’s childhood with his father playing lead guitar for Australian music icon’s Paul Kelly and Ian Rilen who were great family friends and often shared babysitting duties during which he and the other “80′s Rock and Roll babies” would keep each other company during jam sessions that subconsciously influenced his musical tastes from an early age.
Steph Yeah first started “DJ’ing” back in 2004 after a stint producing Trip Hop in Melbourne with good friend and local St Kilda artist Heinz Simpson got the creative (musical) juices flowing.
Finding that he enjoyed the technicality of the production side of things a little more than just spinning CD’s or Vinyl, Steph moved towards digital DJ software very early on and has now perfected his setup so as to bring the best of both live performance, production and DJ’ing into one dynamic “anything goes” approach to his live sets.
He has a varied portfolio of international venues he has played at, including Amsterdam’s BC12, Winston Kingdom, Het Schuim and Korsakoff. In the UK he has hit the decks at Belushi’s in Brighton and in Melbourne he has performed at The Lounge, Base, Piccolo Bar, The Loft and Sousoul. Steph likes to use a mixture of loops and samples from many different artists and genre’s in his (and his alter ego “Edburg”) sets, he takes inspiration from such musical heavyweights as Kraftwerk, Underworld and Richie Hawtin. Steph aspires to take his DJ’ing all over the world and is working on a new live set up involving vocals and live keys.
Now working out of the creative heartbeat of Prarhran that is Rival Revolution Studios, SYEAH can quite often be found going back to back with Royce Watson and Craig James, as well as Matt Tako, Jimi Who, Bastiann V and Alexon Ramoss. Steph hosts “The GYFO Show” on www.onlineclubber.com on a Friday night from 9-11pm (GMT+10)…he and Royce are sure to get your weekend warmed up for you!”

When it rains…..
When it rains, Clifton Street (right outside the studio) tends to flood a little bit. So when it started thundering down this afternoon and I realised I was stuck indoors for the next few hours, I grabbed my camera, rolled a ciggie and sat at the window watching the world negotiate itself. Bring the rain.

The Rival Revolution Road Show @ Piccolo Espresso
Last Thursday Piccolo Espresso (High Street, Prahran) was game enough to host the very first Rival Revolution Road Show. Whats the Road Show you ask? Well it’s pretty simple really. All the artists and Dj’s from the studio hanging out and doing their thing, playing music, drawing, painting and drinking. Except instead of being at the studio we were out there, at the bar, doing it all in front of a crowd of enthusiastic young punters. The night was an amazing success, a totally chilled vibe with some great tunes and great art. What more could you ask for really? Well, all I ask for is to do it all again very very soon please!! check out these photos from the night and I’ll see you at the next one!
- Factor is mad mad mad goodness
- Phoenix infamous workstation
- Factors window, so sick!
- Phoenix dedication to Piccolo Espresso

- ExRobots Love and War Window
- I love you Edburg, now play me another dam tune!
